Overview – Bone spurs(Osteophytes) normally go undetected for years and are often misdiagnosed for plantar fasciitis. Most people do not know they have one until an x-ray is taken. Bone spurs are not a serious problem, however they can become chronic if they are not treated properly.
Symptoms – Heel pain that extends into the inside arch of the foot when pressure is applied. Often worse in the morning when you first get out of bed.
Cause – Heel spurs are caused by repetative strain/overuse and trauma. Improper shoes and support are also a factor.
Treatment options – Myofascial release, Foot Orthotics, Stretching, Ultrasound therapy, medication, rehabilitation exercises
