Overview - Facet joints are located on either side of the 7 vertebrae of the neck. Arthritis, Trauma, postural stress, and repetative activities can cause the facets to become painfully fixated. The exact mechanism of facet syndrome is not clear, however it is particularly responsive to manipulation.
Symptoms - focal neck pain, reduced range of motion, muscle and joint tenderness
Cause - sudden misjudged movement, repeated posture (phone, computer), accidents, improper body mechanics, chronic arthritis
Treatment options - Spinal manipulation/mobilization, posture/ergonomic instruction, prescribed exercise/stretches, interferential therapy, massage therapy
